Why does the carbide at the drill tip fall off?

The tip temperature is too high, causing the carbide to fall off. Remember to pull the drill bit back a bit if you meet resistance, then drill again. Don't force it. When drilling into hard materials, make sure to use plenty of water.

Dry Drilling: Wood, plastic (like PVC pipe), foam blocks/cinder blocks, red brick, cement, and regular concrete (not for rebar!).

Wet Drilling - (For Hard Stuff): porcelain tile, ceramic tile, marble, or glass.

Use water or coolant with this bit when drilling can extend its service life.
