Hatortempt's mealworms have a max moisture of 5.2%, the ideal spot for preventing spoilage and boosting nutrient-density for your chickens. With 5.2% our mealworms are highly concentrated in the protein and fat needed for energy and healthy feathers.

What is the storage and shelf life?

Our mealworms last 2 years (see bag for exact expiration date). It arrives in a resealable bag for lasting freshness without extra containers. To store, seal the bag tightly and store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Will wild birds and chickens eat them?

Absolutely! Our dried mealworms are the high protein, high palatibility treat chickens and wild birds love. As our worms are fed an organic diet and then washed and dried twice, they have the golden color and crispy texture birds go crazy for.

Can they get wet?

Absolutely! While they are best enjoyed dry, you can soak them in water to give your chickens an extra hydration boost while still remaining nutrient-dense.

Are they freeze-dried?

No! Our mealworms are microwaved twice. Freeze drying can cause a porous texture leading to dust and a shorter shelf life. However, microwaving protects the protein and fat, prevents dust, and gives the perfect crispy texture your chickens love.
